The Puressentiel Foundation: Protection of Nature

240,000 NEW TREES, COVERING 150 HECTARES

IN MADAGASCAR, FONDATION PURESSENTIEL IS RENEWING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE NGO INTER AIDE, WHOSE MISSION IS TO STRENGTHEN THE ABILITY OF THE MOST DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVING CONDITIONS THEMSELVES.

In 2024, the Puressentiel Foundation's endowment will enable the planting of more than 240,000 new trees (150 hectares) for the sustainable reforestation of degraded land to combat climate change and support plots already planted in 2022 and 2023.In practice, 2,000 rural families from 200 tranobes (community lineage organisations) will be supported to reforest and manage 150 hectares of degraded collective plots by planting around 240,000 trees. This project includes support for the tranobes in managing the plots planted in previous years (almost 750 hectares).

This project is supported in particular thanks to the funds obtained from the payment of Isabelle Pacchioni's royalties on her book Aromathérapia, le livre des huiles essentielles, published by Aroma Thera in November 2022.

This project meets 4 SDGs: No. 1: No poverty, No. 10: Reduced inequalities, No. 13: Measures to combat climate change and No. 15: Life on Earth.

80 CLEAN-UP MISSIONS, 40 AWARENESS-RAISING CAMPAIGNS & PARTICIPATION IN THE CANOPE SCIENTIFIC PROJECT

IN FRANCE, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION renews its SUPPORT FOR WINGS OF THE OCEAN WHICH WORKS CONCRETELY FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST MARINE AND AQUATIC WASTE WITH THE BASSIN D'ARCACHON 2023 PROJECT.

In 2024, the Puressentiel Foundation is consolidating the Arcachon Basin mission, which includes 80 clean-ups and 40 awareness-raising initiatives, in collaboration with local partners (local authorities, businesses, associations and local populations). At the same time, and this is what's new for 2024, this mission is taking part in a wider scientific programme called CANOPE, thanks to ADEME, CNRS and the data collected by Wings of the Ocean in the field over a 30-month period.
This 2024 mission will also include research and studies to set up a new mission on the Gironde estuary and establish a long-term presence on this river. The idea is therefore to broaden the scope of the mission already supported by the Puressentiel Foundation and to leave the project manager in post all year round (instead of 6 months) in order to develop strong links with local institutions, an essential element in understanding the specific and technical issues involved in setting up a Wings mission on the Garonne.

This project meets 3 SDGs: No. 4: Quality education, No. 13: Measures to combat climate change and No. 14: Aquatic life.

650,000 NEW BEES PROTECTED

BY SUPPORTING 11 BEEKEEPERS AND 13 HIVES, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION IS PROTECTING 650,000 NEW BEES IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM, THROUGH THE "UN TOIT POUR LES ABEILLES" NETWORK.

The Puressentiel Foundation is renewing its support in 2024, ensuring the long-term future of this network which protects bees and, through them, the ecosystem and biodiversity in France and Belgium.

Providing practical support to 11 beekeepers throughout France and Belgium by sponsoring 13 hives will help to develop new colonies of bees, provide financial support for the beekeeping industry, and raise awareness on a large scale about the disappearance of bees and the essential role they play in nature. And protect 650,000 new bees in the process.
Since 2018, the support of the Puressentiel Foundation has helped to protect more than 4,300,000 bees!

This project meets 4 SDGs: No. 8: Decent work and economic growth, No. 12: Responsible consumption and production, No. 13: Measures to combat climate change and No. 15: Life on Earth.

15,000 INDIGENOUS PLANTS PLANTED BY YOUNG QUECHUAS

IN PERU, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS A.I.M.E., AN ASSOCIATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT IN THE SERVICE OF SOLIDARITY-BASED, SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT.

The Puressentiel Foundation's endowment for 2024 will enable: 15,000 indigenous plants to be planted by young Quechua people to protect biodiversity and promote their land and culture in Chosecani, Peru. This project is co-sponsored with the CEDEP Ayllu Association, which has been working for 40 years to support farming communities in various areas of the Cuzco region.
To do this in a way that has an impact and is sustainable, the project aims to train a group of 40 young people from the community, the "Guardians of the Andes", in the development and conservation of the plantation site.

This project meets 4 of the SDGs: No. 4: Quality education, No. 11: Sustainable cities and communities, No. 13: Measures to combat climate change and No. 15: Life on land.

AN APIARY AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO PRESERVE BIODIVERSITY

IN SWITZERLAND, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE ARCHE DES ABEILLES FOUNDATION AND IS HELPING TO PROTECT BIODIVERSITY AND EDUCATE THE YOUNGER GENERATION ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT.

In 2024, the Puressentiel Foundation's endowment will enable the restoration of an apiary and the organisation of educational activities aimed at preserving biodiversity in Satigny, in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland. Planting honey-bearing flowers, raising awareness among children of the importance of bees and biodiversity, investing in high-quality protective equipment to welcome pupils to the apiary and to ensure their safety, as well as in teaching and educational materials, so that almost 1,200,000 bees are protected in Switzerland.

PROTECTING BIODIVERSITY: CONSERVING SPECIES AND ECOSYSTEMS IN AN ARGAN TREE RESERVE

IN MOROCCO, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE TAMALOUTE COOPERATIVE WHICH, BY PROTECTING THE REGION'S BEES AND ARGAN FORESTS, WORKS TO PROMOTE BIODIVERSITY AND PROVIDES THE NECESSARY SUPPORT TO VULNERABLE PEOPLE AND FRAGILE COMMUNITIES IN RURAL MOUNTAIN AREAS SO THAT THEY CAN IMPROVE THEIR LIVING CONDITIONS.

In 2024, the Puressentiel Foundation is taking action to protect biodiversity and enable the conservation of the species and ecosystems of an argan tree reserve through transhumance beekeeping and the protection of 450 colonies of Sahariensis bees (endangered) in the commune of Tizi Ntakoucht in the province of Chtouka Ait Baha in Morocco.
The long-term solution proposed by this project is to create small-scale bee-keeping projects with the aim of improving the economic situation of local people and providing them with a stable income to help reduce the indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources, in particular the argan tree, while at the same time pollinating the plant cover with bees and helping to protect bees from extinction.

This project fulfils 3 SDGs: No. 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, No. 13: Action on Climate Change and No. 15: Life on Earth.

A MOBILE ACADEMY TO ENGAGE A LARGE NUMBER OF FARMERS IN AN AGROECOLOGICAL APPROACH.

IN BELGIUM, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE HOUSE OF AGROECOLOGY ASBL, WHOSE MISSION IS TO ACCELERATE THE AGROECOLOGICAL TRANSITION IN BELGIUM. THIS ASSOCIATION OFFERS UNIFIED COMMUNICATION, COMMON AND VALIDATED SCIENTIFIC BASES AND A SET OF SHARED TOOLS FOR ALL THOSE INVOLVED IN AGROECOLOGY.

In 2024, the Puressentiel Foundation is taking action to protect the environment with the creation of a mobile academy to involve a large number of farmers in an agroecological approach: field training in agroecology. The project involves testing an initial pilot in 2024 with an initial group of farmers (15 to 25) in Belgium;
In order to involve a large number of farmers in an agroecological approach (target of 10,000 by 2030, i.e. 1/3 of Belgian farmers), they need agronomic support.
This "mobile academy" is concentrated in Flanders, as the region is less well served by agronomic advisers specialising in agroecology/regenerative agriculture.

This project fulfils 4 SDGs: No. 4: Quality education, No. 8: Decent work and economic growth, No. 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure and No. 12: Responsible consumption and production.
