The Puressentiel Foundation: Protection of Health

Giving access to health to over 3000 children

IN MADAGASCAR, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION PROVIDES ACCESS TO HEALTH FOR MORE THAN 3000 CHILDREN WITH AROMATHERAPY WITHOUT BORDERS. THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION HAS BEEN SUPPORTING THIS ASSOCIATION CREATED BY PIERRE FRANCHOMME, A WORLD-RENOWNED AROMATHERAPY EXPERT, SINCE 2018.

This association provides access to healthcare in this under-medicalised country, using traditional medicines, including aromatic medicine, combined with allopathic medicine with the full agreement of the health authorities.

A dispensary was opened in 2014 in Antsirabé, the country's third-largest city, to monitor children's health in public schools and surrounding families. The association has enabled:
- The opening of infirmaries in public primary schools to accommodate 900 pupils
- A decent annual salary for the doctors and employees of the dispensary
- The proper functioning and maintenance of the dispensary, and the expansion of the educational aromatic garden: "Pépinière de l'avenir".

Improving the nutritional care of more than 5,000 malnourished children and their mothers through fish farming

IN TOGO, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE YENDUBE HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION, WHICH WORKS TO SAFEGUARD THE OVERALL HEALTH OF CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 10 AND THEIR MOTHERS, AT ALL STAGES OF GROWTH.

In this area, the poorest in Togo (Dapaong), the rate of severe malnutrition among children under 5 years of age and their mothers received in hospital is very high. Malnutrition reduces learning capacity, compromising children's future and perpetuating an intergenerational cycle of poverty and malnutrition. Yet adequate nutrition is the first line of defence against disease.

The "YENDUBE" Children's Hospital, one of the three centres of the YENDUBE Association, welcomes children from 0 to 10 years of age in intensive care, medicine, neonatology, malnutrition, etc. This represents 180 hospital beds, an outpatient clinic, a laboratory and blood bank, a pharmacy, etc., i.e. 5,500 to 6,000 children hospitalised each year.

Since 2021, thanks to the previous support of the Puressentiel Foundation, it has also had 2 fish farming ponds that provide a sustainable supply of vegetable and animal proteins. At the hospital's expense, the children and their mothers have at least one balanced meal a day.

This year, the Puressentiel Foundation has made it possible to create a room for the production, storage and drying of feed for the fish farming ponds; the construction of the main pond for the recovery of used water, the laying of irrigation pipes for the site, the improvement of the soil with compost and the creation of an orchard and a mini vegetable garden.

Continue to provide care, support and hope for a better future for 350 families

IN LEBANON, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE ASSOCIATION LES PETITS SOLEILS, WHICH PROVIDES SCHOOLING AND HEALTH CARE FOR DISCRIMINATED CHILDREN WITHOUT MEDICAL COVERAGE, REGARDLESS OF ETHNICITY OR RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION.

The Puressentiel Foundation has been supporting this association, founded in 1996 by Dr Noha Baz, since 2018. On 4 August 2020, it released exceptional aid following the explosions that devastated part of Beirut to help with the immediate health care of the population.

The Puressentiel Foundation's 2022 endowment enables the association to participate in its daily activities:
- A monthly action with the distribution of support envelopes, growth milk, clothes, books, chronic medicines.
- An emergency action released on a case-by-case basis covering surgery, hospitalisation and the supply of ophthalmic and hearing prostheses, with an air bridge established a year ago to transport adapted treatments from Paris.

To continue to make as many children as possible smile!

Acting for the environmental health of migrants

IN NIGER, TOGETHER WITH MÉDECINS DU MONDE BELGIUM, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION IS HELPING TO PROVIDE BETTER LIVING AND HYGIENE CONDITIONS FOR PEOPLE TURNED AWAY FROM ALGERIA IN THE TRANSIT ZONE OF AGADEZ.

Médecins du Monde Belgium fights daily for access to healthcare for people living in poverty and on the margins of society in Belgium and internationally.

Migrant populations rarely benefit from optimal hygiene conditions. This situation affects their dignity, makes their daily lives even more complex, and, above all, is conducive to the development of so-called "water-borne diseases".

In concrete terms, the aid provided by the Puressentiel Foundation covers the monthly costs of collecting waste, maintaining toilets, purchasing and installing water tanks, setting up waste pits, and the salaries of educators/trainers for environmental protection. The themes of the training courses are related to hygiene and sanitation.

60 days of holidays for 130 children with cancer

IN FRANCE, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE ‘SOURIRE À LA VIE’ ASSOCIATION. SINCE 2006, IT HAS BEEN HELPING CHILDREN WITH CANCER GET THROUGH THE ORDEALS OF THE DISEASE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE CONDITIONS AND KEEP THEIR CHILDHOOD LIFE OF GAMES, DREAMS, AND FULFILMENT.

The association offers comprehensive and personalised support to young patients, enabling them to deal with the major difficulties encountered during their therapeutic journey.

The holiday days are part of this support programme aimed at optimising the care of young patients to give them the best possible chance of recovery and reduce the side effects of treatment and long-term after-effects.

The concrete help of the Puressentiel Foundation contributes to the setting up of 60 days of holidays for 130 children who have cancer: respite, sport and leisure activities despite the treatment.

The children will take part in the holidays with the authorisation of the paediatric hospital oncologist, the child's referent, and the paediatric oncologist's agreement, a member of the SALV team. The children are between 5 and 17 years old, and the groups are formed to encourage solidarity and mutual aid.

Improvement of hygiene conditions and practices for 2295 school children and 67 teachers

IN CAMBODIA, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS 'UN ENFANT PAR LA MAIN'. THIS ASSOCIATION WORKS TO PROTECT CHILDREN AND ENSURE THAT THEIR RIGHTS ARE RESPECTED TO REDUCE POVERTY IN THE WORLD AND IMPROVE THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF THE MOST DEPRIVED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.

In Cambodia, limited access to clean water and sanitation causes many health problems. It is estimated that 3.8 million people (out of 16 million inhabitants) do not have access to clean water. These health problems are exacerbated by poor hygiene practices in families and communities; about 6 out of 10 schools do not have basic sanitation facilities. The programme has 3,972 beneficiaries.
In 2022, the Puressentiel Foundation is participating in the programme to improve community health by promoting good basic hygiene practices and the provision of sanitation facilities and access to drinking water. The concrete help of the Puressentiel Foundation allows the complete construction of a 4-block latrine in one of the schools that currently lack one and 17 urinals out of the 24 necessaries for the project.

A paediatrician and health insurance for 110 children

IN SENEGAL, THE PURESSENTIEL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS VIVRE ENSEMBLE - LA POUPONNIÈRE. THIS ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS TO TAKE CARE OF INFANTS AND CHILDREN IN DANGER.

The Pouponnière is a temporary home for small children deprived of their mothers. It allows motherless children or children whose mothers cannot take care of them to live their first years of life protected, so fragile, before returning to their families after one or two years. The LA POUPONNIERE DE M'BOUR centre currently welcomes 110 children. Of these children, 80 are under the age of 3 and require more in-depth medical care in the first few years of their lives.

The objectives of the project supported by the Puressentiel Foundation in 2022 are to improve the medical follow-up of the children, give them better access to care and reduce medical expenses. The 2022 grant from the Puressentiel Foundation will make it possible to finance the annual salary of the paediatrician at the M'Bour nursery and the health insurance for the 110 children at the nursery. Having a paediatrician within the establishment on-site allows for improved monitoring and care of the children.
